Jay Michael Devereaux and some other Patriots that are on the Board of Unite In Action (UIA) watched in horror as they seen how the government and the red cross have failed in helping United States Citizens suffering in Staten Island after the Hurricane Sandy.

Hurricane Sandy Disaster on Staten Island
Staten Island New York has been one of the hardest hit areas by hurricane Sandy. Homes destroyed, people with no shelter, food, clothing and water. Meanwhile the Red Cross in New York agencies are not getting help to these people. New York City is busy planning a marathon on Sunday taking vital resources from disaster relief to assist in setting up for the marathon.
THIS CANNOT STAND!
Time again we have seen government agencies and so-called relief agencies fail miserably during these disasters. It just takes too long for them to get anything done meanwhile people suffer. Just watch the video below you can see what's happening there. The devastation is heart wrenching.
America is one of the most resilient nation's on earth, and in times of trouble we stand together as a nation and help our neighbors. America is a nation of can-do people and we know we can do a lot better job than the government when things like this happen. We don't have any red tape as neighbors and fellow citizens.
Just look at this headline: Staten Island Borough President: Don’t Give Money to the Red Cross
Or how about this one: Staten Island residents plead for help from Mayor Bloomberg after storm
Politicians are grandstanding mugging for the cameras and photo opportunities meanwhile suffering continues. “Please don’t leave us,” a weeping Donna Solli pleaded to Sen. Chuck Schumer in front of her damaged Neptune St. home. “I live alone down here.” Schumer hugged Solli, a Transportation Department worker, and tried to comfort her. “I know what you’re going through, sweetheart,” he said.
Small consolation to this woman and her family as Sen. Schumer slips into his vehicle and is driven away to a warm, dry and comfortable home.
We cannot just sit by waiting for officials to do something. It's time to unite and take action as citizens to help our neighbors!
How You Can Help
Unite In Action has organized with local businesses and volunteers in The Poconos just outside of the disaster zone to collect and distribute donations of food, water, clothing and blankets through local churches on Staten Island to assist the residents. If you are in Northeast Pennsylvania you can stop by these locations and drop off your donations. We will update this information as we add additional locations.
You may donate by the link below my credit card. All funds received will be processed through a special account set up for this relief effort. 100% of all funds donated will go to this relief effort with the exception of credit card processing and transfer fees.
You can also contact local churches on Staten Island directly.
