I was talking on amateur radio and got a call from a guy that witnessed the crash near Shanksville, PA. Then I called the FBI in Pittsburg, PA and gave them the 6 digit location of the crash site. Then I ran an emergency communication net for several days.
I was in Athens, Greece teaching a telecommunications signaling class. It took almost an hour to connect to any news site from the telecom center. Internet traffic was totally overloaded. Finally got connected to the BBC.
I left Gloucester,VA from my brother's place as he headed to NYC and I to Ohio on 9/10/01. I was in Montpelier,OH. Remember it well. My brother was there when it happen in NYC. My best bud Buster Brown and I spent the night 9/10 @ exit 2 off the Ohio TP. The next morning on 9/11 while in the coffee shop @ exit 2 I found out about it.
Just got back fro a 31 day FTX at NTC (California Desert for those who don't know), Was doing a drywall project in Indianapolis when the Painting crew yells "You're going to WAR, Conover!". Of course, I'm tuned out, got my portable cd player blaring some rock, so I shut it down and take the crew to a local establishment that has the news running 24/7. Right then is when the 2nd plane hit... then the cell phone rang... Unit calls... report your location". "Indianapolis" I said. "Roger. How soon can you muster, Sgt?" the voice says. In 10 minutes, the site was shut down, in the van on the way back to Dayton, Ohio... Ever since, spent 95% of my time OCONUS, attached to this thing called the GWOT.
I taught a CPR class 1st thing that morning. The news was on TV the whole time. Around noon our pagers were going off. NMTF1 was being deployed. Flew from Kirtland AFB to Dulles on a C130. 1st light on 9/12 we laid eyes on the Pentagon. After Fairfax County Fire had the fires knocked down, we assisted on searching inside the crash hole. The search dogs alerted on every square inch inside and were not a lot of help. We found the plane debris and LOTS of body parts. Don't EVER let those friggin' truthers tell you any different!
After Katrina, DHS took over FEMA. Things got weird and I was never any happier to retire.
I was preparing to go do volunteer work at the local thrift store --when the first plane struck. I thought some dumb rich guy committed suicide-- or tried to do what he had no skill to attempt -and paid the price. When the second plane hit I did not need MSNBC nor any mere politician to tell me we were at War. I did not need the talking heads on TV to remind me of the first strike against that target-some years earlier. problem is Islam has a bloody history -they are a people who fulfill the blessing given Hagar in the wilderness--to Ishmael for their hand is against every man even their own kind) and for that reason every mans hand is against them.Islam has been in perpetual state of war against the west since before Columbus set sail seeking an end run around the bloody Islamic terrorists of his day.We fought how many wars against Tripoli--the continuing hostilities abrogating the invalid Treaty so much abused by the ignorant even today for this is a Christian nation/founded upon the principles of Christianity expected to maintain the Moral and Religious principles that guided our founders.The enemy-- Islam sees and knows we are now preferring suicide and are preparing to establish their own Islamic state in America-the very purpose of their Mosques and cultural centers is to claim Our country for their bloody system.
At work in a medical plant. A fellow worker came in and said a plane had hit one of the towers in the city. Later people were bringing TV's into the lunch room and we found out about the attacks on both towers. They broadcast the news of the radio over the intercom system all day. .
I had just dropped my sick kitty kat off at the hospital, not sure she would make it. While in the Dr's office, one of the vet techs came out to the front and said she just heard a plane struck the first tower & they thought it was an accident. Before I left the Dr's office, the vet tech said she heard NOW they think it was intentional and that a second plane struck the second tower. I didn't want to leave my litty kat, but I had to get to work. As I was driving....the radio DJ got emotional and annouced the first Tower fell. I remembering saying out loud, "The ENTiRE building....110 stories fell?!!!!" It was as if he heard me and said, "YES......all 110 Stories collapsed and the second tower is burning". I was in shock!!!!! Then another announcment.....crash in PA........As I was pulling into my parking garage, the DJ announced the pentagon was on fire. I was in sooo much shock!!!! I walked into work & let my office know what was happening. No radio at work, so they wouldn't know what was going on. At that time we didn't have sound boards in our computers, so all we could do was try & keep up by reading the info from the internet. I didn't like that AT ALL!! I wanted realtime news casts that I could hear!!!! So, I pulled out an old readio from our storage and tried to adjust it the best I could so we would be able to hear realtime what was happening. "Fuzzy" sounding radio, but we got the idea!!! Then I got a call from my kitty's Dr. She was critical..........I had to let her go. Kept working, We didn't get a lot done that day.
